Alison made such a cute card with one of my favourite stamp sets (Owl Together Now) that I just had to make one very much like hers. You can see her card here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1097808?cat=13924

I needed a quick birthday card for my daughter who had a birthday party to go to. I logged on SCS and looked at the Owl Together Now gallery. I saw Alison's card and thought it sure looked cute but also that it would be really quick to make. I was short on time so this was just perfect. Less than 5 minutes to make!! Thanks Alison for the inspiration!!

Masking technique with Lovely as a Tree

I have had computer problems for the last few weeks and I was very busy too and I finally have some time tonight to upload a card I made for a Shoe Box Swap I hosted recently. I will post the other cards later this week.

I have seen many cards made with this set and so many of them are gorgeous!!! Here is a link to the gallery on SCS http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=604 where you can see them. I always like to give credit to the person who inspired me but this time, there are so many people who have made similar cards that I just don't know who to give credit to!! So, thanks to everyone at SCS for your inspiring work and here is how I made my card.

List of supplies needed:

- Lovely as a Tree stamp set (p. 106) and Heard form the Heart (p. 145)

- Baja Breeze and Night of Navy Classic Ink pad (p. 164)

- Papers: Night of navy, Baja Breeze ( p.164) and Shimmery White (p. 166)

- 1 1/4 inch Circle Punch (p.188)

- Sticky note

- Stamping Sponge (p. 193)

- Adhesives

Stamp the sentiment first, in Night of Navy Classic Ink pad at the bottom of the Shimmery White paper ( 4 3/4 by 3 1/2 inches)

Stamp your Lovely as a tree stamp in Night of Navy a little bit to the right of your shimmery White paper.

Stamp your image again onto the paper a little bit to the left but this time, don't ink it up. It will stamp a lighter image but this helps create the illusion of depth.

Your image should look like this

Use your circle punch to create a "moon". Place it wherever you'd like.

Using your stamping sponge, dip it into the Baja Breeze Classic Ink pad. Dab the excess on a scrap sheet first and then sponge the surface you want to colour.

Remove your circle and see the moon appear :) Cool effect isn't it!!

Finish up your card by adhering it to a 5 x 3 3/4 inch Night of Navy cardstock, and adhere that to your card base which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.

I tried to capture the shimmer from the white paper but it is hard. I have to say it is very cool in real life :)

I need to go, time to go watch 24 !!!! Woohoo!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy Monday!!

So, here is a simple card.
I also used some Fun Flock on the rabbit. I tried to take a good photo to give you a good idea as to what Fun Flock looks like. I hope that you can see that it almost looks like my rabbit has fur. It is such a fun texture to add to your projects You can find Fun Flock at most scrapbooking stores and it comes in many colours.

Spotlight on Jodi Collins

This card was quick and easy. I didn't stamp the flowers; that's pattern paper I bought at Hobby Lobby. It matches fabric we used for a quilt this summer. I am late sending a couple more thank you cards for this project. Although I really like working as a dental hygienist, it gets in the way of my hobbies :) Oh, if only we could have 8 days in a week!!

Recipe: Stamp- Stampin' Up! Small Script (retired)

Ink: Black

Papers: Basic Black, Whisper White, The Paper Studio.

Accessories: SU! Rhinestone Brads Circle Ice (p 185), Piercing Tool, Pop Dots, Black Organdy Ribbon (retired), Large Oval Punch and Wide Oval punch (p 188).

Note: Oh how I wish that SU! would bring back their organdy ribbon. I always hesitate to use it because I only have a little bit left on a spool and then that's it! So, Wendy, when you receive this card... know that you are very special :)

This card was inspired by another stamper but I don't remember who. I usually write down the name of the stampers who create beautiful cards but I didn't with this one. I've looked through many galleries and blogs and finally gave up. So, if anyone recognizes this card, let me know and I will give full credit to the original stamper. Mine is a little different because I used different colours and I used beads to decorate the frosting :)

This one is for the sketch challenge this week at Splitcoaststampers.

The colours in the new gorgeous paper called Autumn Vine are so beautiful and I couldn't wait to make a fall card with it. I also used a Flower Fusion. Those are so fun because they are made of felt and add a cool texture to any project. I placed Pop Dots to make the deer "pop" :)

I can't belive it has been this long since I posted anything. Life gets so busy and you realize the back burner needs attention too :)

So, here is a card I made for a challenge found on an awesome blog: http://tayloredexpressions.blogspot.com/2008/09/taylored-expressions-cupcake-challenge_19.html I have enjoyed Taylor's blog for quite some time now and she also has a great online store where she sells wonderful card making supplies. I am adding links on the side barr.
Here is the sketch we had to work with

And here is my card

Fun thing about these papers is that they are the same as the fabric we used for one of the quilts we made this summer. I couldn't pass this up as I need to make a few thank you cards to friends who helped me this summer with the big quilting project.

2000 Hits Blog Candy!! Woohoo!!

I had no idea I would be so busy this weekend that it wouldn't be until tonight that I would post about the blog candy. I had a great weekend though and had the chance to go to a quilt show called Quilt A Fair in Longmont. It was so much fun and I bought a few patterns, and just a little bit of fabric. I still have a lot from my fabric stash I started about 15 years ago...

Anyhoo, so here's the blog candy: place an order for $25 from Stampin Up for free! I will choose the winner at random on Tuesday night. If you win, you can order from the current catalog and the mini catalog that will start October 1st (I will place the order that day)

What you need to do: leave a comment on this post and tell me what you like or don't like about my blog and what you wish I would do to make it more interesting to you.

How will this work if you win? I will have the item(s) shipped directly to your house.

Can anyone win? This is only open to US residents since (US) Stampin' Up! won't ship outside the US.

What if you'd like to place an order that would add up to more than $25?

I would credit you for $25 and you can pay the difference with PayPal or a check or money order.

Will I need to pay for shipping and tax? No, I will pay for shipping and tax.

So, let me know what you think and I wish you the best! I will announce the winner late Tuesday night!

Have a happy week :)

Sketch Challenge # 195 / Charm Challenge

Splitcoaststampers has a different challenge every day. Wednesdays are sketches and Thursday are called "Ways to use it". It usually features a card/ scrapbooking supply. This week's supply is to use a charm. I used the little heart thinking it would go well with the stamped image.

I also sponged the edges of the Very Vanilla cardstock with Chocolate Chip ink. I didn't sand he pattern paper, that is how it is.

I am sending this card to my best friend that I met 30 some years ago. We met in 3rd grade and have stayed close in spite of the miles that separate us. She is fighting breast cancer at this time. My heart goes out to her. Nathalie, this one's for you :)

I usually don't make a card without a sketch first so I am not sure I like this... I also made my own pattern paper by stamping the gifts on Baja Breeze. Not sure about that either... The sentiment is in French. It means "Happy Birthday".

Recipe:
Stamp Set by SU! Loads of Love
Papers: Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Basic Blak, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Creamy Caramel and Blush Blossom
Accessories: Vanilla Organdy ribbon (retired), Pop Dots , Blender Pens.
Thanks for stopping by!
