Quilting

I have been very busy with fabric these last few weeks. Mostly buying. :)

Our Church in involved in a humanitarian project and our ward was asked to make 100 quilts. It is a huge project considering we only have 3 months to do this. I am so excited to be part of this project though and once the kids are back in school, I will have more time to devote to this task.

I have awesome friends who are helping me and I am very greatful for them. So, all this to say that I won't be posting a lot of projects in the next 2 months due to this. We'll see how it goes.

This grogeous lady is sister Marjorie Hinckley. She passed away a few years ago but I wanted to share a few quotes from her. She has inspired me in many ways.

She said things like, "Well, you'd better enjoy your children because if you don't you'll make yourself miserable."

"I've found you can laugh or you can cry in life. I choose to laugh because crying gives me a headache."

"I try to make people comfortable with what they are and who they are. And let them know that they're appreciated and that they're making a contribution. They are. It's a rough world out there, the road has not been paved all the way for any of us. We all have a small place in our hearts where we store up our sorrows and our disappointments. Let's be kind to one another and cheer each other on."

And my favourite, "Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle"

Old & New

This is a simple card using a retired stamp and some new pattern paper by SU!
I hesitated to use red and green as these colours remind me of Christmas and this isn't a Christmas card so... I thought that if I added brown, it would give it a country feeling. I think it turned out OK.
I used a sketch from Jen Del Muro. I added a link to her blog on the right.
recipe: SU! stamp set Country Pleasures,
Papers: Bella Rose, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White.
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Old Olive Poly-Twill ribbon, Oval punches, markers, blender pens, 1 3/8" square punch, 1 1/4 " square punch, pop dots.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!!

Sympathy card

I have to say that making sympathy cards is always so hard. A friend of mine lost her mother in law and I wanted to make her a card. I went to SCS gallery and found a beautiful card using Close As a Memory set made by Nancy Riley. I had to make a few changes as I didn't have the same elements that she used. Here is a link to her card http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/946681?cat=7208 and I included a link to her blog on the right.

Recipe: Stamp set SU! Close As a Memory (p 44)
Papers: Soft Sky, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Soft Sky, White craft, black
Accessories: Ribbon (unknown) , Pop Dots

A RAK from Wendy

How fun to find this gorgeous card in the mail from my upline Wendy. She & I have known each other for a good 6 years now and I just love her. We have become good friends over the years. I met her at our kids' pre school and she invited me to a SU! event. I had been stamping and scrapbooking for several years before our meeting but I didn't really get into stamping until then.

I finally signed up to be a demo a few years later and I just love it! It's like having your own little scrapbook store and sharing the love for this craft with people who enjoy it as well. I learn from different people all the time and it is just fun.

Thanks for being such a good friend Wendy and the kind words in the card... dude, you rawk :)

Recipe: Stamp set SU! Always (p 57)

Papers: SU! Spring Silhouettes ( p 170) , Wild Wasabi, White Glossy, Whisper White

Have a good week and thanks for stopping by!!

Aren't these cute buttons? I am so excited for the new catalog to come out on August 11th. Woohoo! New stuff!!

I hope this link will work for more sneak peaks:

This turned out so cute! We made the clouds using the water paper piece as a template. Using a sponge, we swiped the sponge on the ink pad and brushed it on the white paper, moving the template to create different clouds.
