Masking technique with Lovely as a Tree

I have had computer problems for the last few weeks and I was very busy too and I finally have some time tonight to upload a card I made for a Shoe Box Swap I hosted recently. I will post the other cards later this week.

I have seen many cards made with this set and so many of them are gorgeous!!! I always like to give credit to the person who inspired me but this time, there are so many people who have made similar cards that I just don't know who to give credit to!! So, thanks to everyone at SCS for your inspiring work and here is how I made my card.

List of supplies needed:

- Lovely as a Tree stamp set (p. 106) and Heard form the Heart (p. 145)

- Baja Breeze and Night of Navy Classic Ink pad (p. 164)

- Papers: Night of navy, Baja Breeze ( p.164) and Shimmery White (p. 166)

- 1 1/4 inch Circle Punch (p.188)

- Sticky note

- Stamping Sponge (p. 193)

- Adhesives

Stamp the sentiment first, in Night of Navy Classic Ink pad at the bottom of the Shimmery White paper ( 4 3/4 by 3 1/2 inches)

Stamp your Lovely as a tree stamp in Night of Navy a little bit to the right of your shimmery White paper.

Stamp your image again onto the paper a little bit to the left but this time, don't ink it up. It will stamp a lighter image but this helps create the illusion of depth.

Your image should look like this

Use your circle punch to create a "moon". Place it wherever you'd like.

Using your stamping sponge, dip it into the Baja Breeze Classic Ink pad. Dab the excess on a scrap sheet first and then sponge the surface you want to colour.

Remove your circle and see the moon appear :) Cool effect isn't it!!

Finish up your card by adhering it to a 5 x 3 3/4 inch Night of Navy cardstock, and adhere that to your card base which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.

I tried to capture the shimmer from the white paper but it is hard. I have to say it is very cool in real life :)

Spotlight on Cindy Haffner

I am combining a couple of challenges for my card today.

This card is going to a patient of mine. She brought me flowers at work!!! She totally made my day when she said she had been flossing daily and her gums proved that she was telling the truth!!! So, if you ever wonder how you could make your dental hygienist's day; bring her flowers and floss!!!!

Limited Supplies Challenge / Spotlight on Cambria Turnbow

These challenges can get addicting!!! If you ever have a lack of inspiration, these challenges will usually give you a boost! On Fridays, SCS has a Limited Supplies Challenge. Guidelines are posted and everyone who participates try to comply :)

In this case, we were given the task to use two shapes, a rectangle and a circle and we could only accessorize with ribbon. So, here is my card! I loved her card so much, I pretty much did the exact same one but changed the colours for the Colour Challenge at SCS. To get the glitter to stick, I covered the circle with Versamark, then with Heat and Stick Powder, heated that and covered the surface with the glitter. Voila! Love how quickly this card came together.

Belated Birthday card

I have many favourite stamp sets and this one is on my top 10 list. It is called Birthday Banter. It has been retired for a couple of years now but I just love it!!

So, here is a simple card.

I also used some Fun Flock on the rabbit. I tried to take a good photo to give you a good idea as to what Fun Flock looks like. I hope that you can see that it almost looks like my rabbit has fur. It is such a fun texture to add to your projects You can find Fun Flock at most scrapbooking stores and it comes in many colours.

This card was quick and easy. I didn't stamp the flowers; that's pattern paper I bought at Hobby Lobby. It matches fabric we used for a quilt this summer. I am late sending a couple more thank you cards for this project. Although I really like working as a dental hygienist, it gets in the way of my hobbies :) Oh, if only we could have 8 days in a week!!

Crazy for Cupcakes Tonight!!

I just love this set and it is on sale this month because Stampin' Up! is celebrating their 20th year! Woohoo!!

This card was inspired by another stamper but I don't remember who. I usually write down the name of the stampers who create beautiful cards but I didn't with this one. Mine is a little different because I used different colours and I used beads to decorate the frosting :)

Sketch Challenge # 195 / Charm Challenge

Splitcoaststampers has a different challenge every day. Wednesdays are sketches and Thursday are called "Ways to use it". It usually features a card/ scrapbooking supply. This week's supply is to use a charm. I used the little heart thinking it would go well with the stamped image.

I also sponged the edges of the Very Vanilla cardstock with Chocolate Chip ink. I didn't sand he pattern paper, that is how it is.

I am sending this card to my best friend that I met 30 some years ago. We met in 3rd grade and have stayed close in spite of the miles that separate us. She is fighting breast cancer at this time. My heart goes out to her. Nathalie, this one's for you :)

This is What a Hundred Quilts Look Like

This was the summer of quilts! I am so glad I had the opportunity to be part of this big project. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a success. We were done early and under budget!

This is my good friend Susan (on the right) and I. She has helped soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much! Don't we look relieved and pleased that this is done!

So many people in the ward participated. I thought I'd share a few photos. My friend Amy and her daughter Hannah.

Thanks to Wendy for taking a lot of photos during the project. She and Amy were awesome helpers.

Here is President Dunford and brother Lawrence. It was so fun that so many men helped. My husband would tell them: " If you can tie your shoes, you can tie a quilt!" Most of our quilts were tied with the international stitch. We did a few tied with yarn quilts but I'd say 80 % of them were done with the international stitch. They turned out beautifully.

My daughter Elise and niece Kendra came to help too. We had one Mutual Night activity devoted to this. It was great to see the youth involved with this project as well. I got a kick out of seeing these kids trying to quilt and text message at the same time!

My friend Mary Beth emailed me a few days before she moved to England and said that she needed to get rid of her fabric before the move, was I interested? Oh my! It was such a blessing to get all of her most beautiful fabric. I came home with 20 garbage bags full! My dear husband wanted to kill me for bringing this home !! When we went to Church the following Sunday, we were told of the quilting project! I couldn't believe how perfect the timing was. We made 15 quilts with her fabric. Here are a few close ups. Mary Beth- Thanks a million!!!

I wish I could show a photo of everyone who helped but I don't want to post a hundred photos!! Thanks again to everyone who helped. These will be sent to Salt Lake City's LDS Humanitarian Center and will be delivered wherever they are needed.
