A Bit Out of the Box

I rarely make home made crafts. Not my forte :) But, I saw some Halloween bottles on eBay and thought I could do that! So, here's what I came up with. Got some bottles at the thrift store, printed labels found by googling Halloween bottle labels images. Threw in some fake spiders, eye balls and skeleton from Michael's. I adhered the labels with Modge Podge and covered the entire bottles to give them some texture and age them a bit. Died some cheese cloth with tea.

My sweet cat had to inspect them :) Hope you like this idea! Super quick and simple!!!

Now, I saw a similar card somewhere so my idea for this card is not original but I can't find the card that inspired mine. I did a few searches on Splitcoaststampers but to no avail :( The other thing you'll notice is that the antlers aren't the same colour!!! Oh my heck! I need to pay more attention when I colour! Anyhoo, used Prismacolor Pencils again along with my Gamsol. Added a bit of glitter on his red nose and voilà!!

As we remember the terrorists' attacks of 9/11, we decided as a family to do something nice on this day. I believe that the best revenge is living well. So, we will try and be extra kind to those around us. After Church, we will go to our local Memorial park for 9/11 and deliver cookies to people who serve our country. Something a Little Different

I don't really have a style when it comes to my cards. In fact, I don't really have a style for the clothes I wear either. Sometimes it's jeans, sometimes, it's a skirt. Plain and neutral one day, fun colours the next. So, I feel the same way about the cards I make. I would say though that I dress modestly and it is always simple. No big jewelry or loud accents. No layer after layer. Same with my cards. I prefer to go clean & simple. Mostly because I am always short on time :) Anyhoo, this card was inspired by Birgit's card. Je n'ai pas vraiment de style avec mes cartes. En fait, je n'ai pas vraiment de style avec les vêtements que je porte non plus. Parfois je porte des jeans, d'autres fois, je porte une jupe. Simple et neutre une journée, couleurs vives une autre. Alors, c'est un peu pareil pour mes cartes. Je dois dire que je porte mes vêtements toujours de façon modeste et bien simple. Pas de gros bijoux ou d'accents. La même chose avec mes cartes. Je préfère simple & propre. La plus part du temps parce que je n'en ai pas beaucoup de temps :) En tout cas, cette carte est inspirée par Birgit. J'espère que vous l'aimez et passez un beau dimanche!

This card is for this week's Colour Challenge at SCS. This is so out of the box for me. I actually drew these birds. My card is inspired by Godelieve and the drawing lessons are by Delphine Doreau. I used a water brush with my markers so the edges of my birds are a little fuzzy but I kinda like it that way. I had so much fun drawing these, I will do some more in the future. Cette carte est pour le défi de couleur sur SCS de cette semaine. C'est très différent pour moi parce que j'ai dessiné ces oiseaux. Ma carte est inspirée par Godeliève et la leçon pour dessiner est de Delphine Doreau. So sad to see this stamp set go at the end of the month. Making this card reminded me of the old days (back when we didn't have a computer) and we had to draw our own bugs for school projects. We couldn't print them off the internet. So, I decided to use staples and school paper. Hoping this will cheer a little boy who is in the hospital right now. Have a happy Sunday!

Bien dommage de voir cet ensemble d'étampes être discontinué à la fin du mois. J'ai pensé à mon enfance pendant que j'ai fait cette carte. Dans le temps, on n'avait pas d'ordinateur et il fallait dessiner les insectes. On ne pouvait pas les imprimer avec l'aide de l'internet. Donc, j'ai decidé de mettre des agrafes et du papier d'école. Cette carte va aller à un petit garçon qui est a l'hôpital et qui j'espère va lui amener un petit peu de joie! Passez un beau dimanche!

This week's CAS challenge at SCS is to use a light yellow, a light blue and white. My butterfly is white with a little yellow. I used clear embossing powder on the flowers and sentiment. Hope you like it! Have a happy day!

Kasia!!! With only 3 comments, I asked my youngest daughter to roll a die and it fell on a 1 and the number 1 comment was left by Kasia. So, if you'll contact me via email (rdh.curtis@gmail.com), I'll get that stamp set sent to you this week. As for today's card, I was inspired by Beate's card. I used white acrylic paint that I applies with a sponge going accross from left to right. Waited for the paint to dry. Stamped my image and coloured it with markers. Sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink. This image is perfect for today. We worked on the yard all day yesterday (I do have a rather big yard) and today, it snowed. So, I thought this snowman flying its kite with tulips next to it was perfect for today :) I stamped a sentiment on the inside that says: "Your friendship is like a song of spring). Hope you like it! Have a wonderful stamping week!

Pour ma carte aujourd'hui, elle est inspirée par Beate. J'ai utilisé de la painture acrylique blanche. J'ai painturé ma carte de gauche à droite. Laissé secher. Etampé mon image et coloré avec les marqueurs. L'image va bien avec notre température. Il a fait chaud hier et on a travaillé fort dans la court (j'ai une grande court) et aujourd'hui, il a neigé! It has officially been 3 years since I started this blog! Why I started my blog on April Fool's Day? I just don't know!! :) I've been thinking all month about what I should do to celebrate. And, to top it off, it's also Free Digi Friday. I wanted it to be a special free digi day. Our image today comes from Operation Write Home. Find this free digi here . Many stampers make cards for our the men & women serving in the military. How grateful we are for their sacrifice. So, I thought I'd feature them today. I am adding OWH's freebies page on my list. I love Krista's card! So, I thought I'd give it a try myself. Went to Home Depot and took a paint swatch home. Trimmed it to fit my card, rounded the corners, stamped my image in Versamark, poured white embossing powder on top, heated with heat tool and voilà! This card took about 5 minutes to put together. J'aime tellement la carte de Krista que j'en ai fait une aussi! Je suis allée chez Home Depot et j'ai pris un échantillon de painture. Je l'ai coupé pour que les dimensions fonctionnent avec ma carte. J'ai arondis les coins, étampé mon image dans le Versamark, mis de la poudre à gaufrage blanche, chauffé et voilà! This week's featured stamper at SCS is "BFinlay". This is the card I decided to CASE. The challenge requires that we change at least 3 things. That was hard since I didn't think her card needed any changes. However, I did change the size, mine is a regular 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 instead of a square, I changed the sentiment and I didn't have a bow on top of the button. Hope you like it!
